Discover Tour: Ira Valley 1810-1910 (walking)

Beginning at 1pm, a tour of the Ira Valley will be presented. Park your car at Hale Farm just to the right of the gate and step back into the past. The tour encompasses Hale Farm with characterization by C.O. Hale, Hammond-Cranz Farm by Nettie Cranz, Ira Cemetery by sisters Eleanor Hammond and Phebe Hawkins, and the Wetmore Farm by Ralph Wetmore. From there, Edwin and Roxana Howe will meet you on the trail to Indigo Lake and discuss transportation changes over 100 years from oxen driven wagons, to canal boats, to the opening of the railroad. The tour ends with a grand vista of Howe Meadow and Indigo Lake at the train station.
Registration is required for this free tour. Please only register for the tour that matches your planned mode of travel (hike, bike, or hayride). Those that wish to walk or bicycle the 2 ½ miles will have a person leading the way. The hayride has limited seating so please register early.
